Energy conversion of thermoacoustic engines with evaporation and condensation

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study investigated the energy conversion of a thermoacoustic engine using wet regenerator for interconversion heat flux density and work density. According to first law thermodynamics, local can be described source corresponding gradient First, we analytically separated phenomena related water evaporation condensation. Thereafter, experimentally only gas, then that The data obtained were compared with analytical results. experimental results showed good agreement. Furthermore, condensation, which was determined both experimentally, higher than gas by maximum factor 4.5.

Scaling up nanoscale water-driven energy conversion into evaporation-driven engines and generators

Evaporation is a ubiquitous phenomenon in the natural environment and a dominant form of energy transfer in the Earth's climate. Engineered systems rarely, if ever, use evaporation as a source of energy, despite myriad examples of such adaptations in the biological world. Here, we report evaporation-driven engines that can power common tasks like locomotion and electricity generation. These eng...

Mean evaporation and condensation coefficients based on energy dependent condensation probability.

A generalization of the classical Hertz-Knudsen and Schrage laws for the evaporation mass and energy fluxes at a liquid-vapor interface is derived from kinetic theory and a simple model for a velocity dependent condensation coefficient. These expressions, as well as the classical laws and simple phenomenological expressions, are then considered for the simulation of recent experiments [Phys. Re...

Acoustic streaming measurements in annular thermoacoustic engines.

Experiments with an annular thermoacoustic engine employing quasiadiabatic interaction between traveling acoustic waves and an inhomogeneously heated porous material indicate the presence of a closed-loop mass flux. A qualitative modeling of the enthalpy flux in the thermoacoustic core provides an opportunity to estimate the thermal convection associated with this mass flux, by using temperatur...

Capillary condensation and evaporation in alumina nanopores with controlled modulations.

Capillary condensation in nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide presenting not interconnected pores with controlled modulations is studied using adsorption experiments and molecular simulations. Both the experimental and simulation data show that capillary condensation and evaporation are driven by the smallest size of the nanopore (constriction). The adsorption isotherms for the open and closed por...

Heat to electricity thermoacoustic-magnetohydrodynamic conversion

In this work, a new concept for the conversion of heat into electricity is presented. The conversion is based on the combined effects of a thermoacoustic prime mover coupled with a magnetohydrodynamic generator, using different working fluids in each process. The results of preliminary experiments are also presented.
